My Season: I did race training at Cardrona 3 days a week
and freeriding for a couple of days. I competed in some races here and in
Queenstown and got some very good results considering I am 10 and was racing
against 12 year olds. I should get even better results next year, as I will be
older! I traveled to The Remarkables a couple of times and competed in The
Moro Slopestyle Comps and also at Armadageddon at the Snowpark. I competed at
the NZ Freeski Open and was the youngest competitor. At the Cardrona Games I
competed in both the halfpipe and slopestyle and I scored the highest of the
juniors competing. I broke my collar bone
trying a back flip at Snowpark. I got mostly around and then got scared and
stopped turning. I landed on my shoulder!! Snap!! This was the day before the
Armadageddon. I didn’t ski for the next 10 days to let my bone do some mending.
I competed at the NZ Junior Nationals at the Remarks just 10 days later. Even
though I wasn’t at my best I came 3rd overall in the 13 and under
division, having come 2nd in Slopestyle and Skier Cross and 3rd
in Big Mountain.
Highlight of my season: Being selected for the NZ Junior
Freeski Team.
Plans For the Summer: I will be travelling to the States
with my Dad and brothers. We will be based in Park City,
Utah. I have received an invite into the
Sports Illustrated For Kids Next Snow Search event which will be in Steamboat
in February. I will be attending a training camp with the NZ Junior Team and
also competing in the Aspen Open again. I will also do some smaller comps.
Shoutouts: To all my
sponsors, my Mum and Dad and to my brothers for helping me!
